Million Dollar Case Results

This was a case against Wal-Mart.  A Wal-Mart employee left water on the floor but did not place any warning signs in the area.  The client slipped and fell, suffering severe orthopedic injuries to his back, shoulder and elbow causing permanent pain and disability.  After a three-day trial, the jury awarded $11.25 million plus prejudgment interest, for a total of more than $13.9 million.  This case was reported at Virginia Lawyers Weekly, May 20, 2013 and March 1, 2013.  This was reportedly the largest personal injury jury verdict ever in Stafford County.

This was a case against a convenience store chain, which failed to warn customers of a dangerous condition on its sidewalk that was not apparent to customers.  Our client fell as a result and suffered a traumatic brain injury. The jury returned its verdict after seven days of trial.  This case was reported at Virginia Lawyers Weekly, May 7, 2007 (front page); July 2, 2007; and January 14, 2008 (front page and listing of largest jury verdicts on page 5).  This was reportedly the largest personal injury jury verdict in Virginia that year.

Our client was driving on an interstate when a tractor-trailer struck her car.  Our client sustained a brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and other related injuries. The trial took ten days.  The case went to the Virginia Supreme Court at Rose v. In this case, a tractor-trailer had leaked fuel onto an interstate highway. Our client was behind the truck, hit the oil, skidded, and crashed. The client suffered a brain injury and orthopedic injuries. The trial took three days.  This case was reported at Virginia Lawyers Weekly, July 16, 2001 (cover story), and January 14, 2002 (listing of largest jury verdicts). This was reportedly the largest personal injury jury verdict of the year in Virginia.

Our client was injured while delivering construction materials. The receiving company unloaded the materials in a manner that it knew was dangerous, but it did not warn our client of the danger or allow her an opportunity to avoid it. The resulting accident knocked the client off her feet. Her head and back struck the floor hard, and she suffered a traumatic brain injury and orthopedic injuries.
